All Eyez On Me, There is a heaven for a G’!
When you think about the best rappers ever to live, the Top Five Dead or Alive, without question, Tupac Amaru Shakur has to be mentioned among them! Real, Thug Life, Gangsta, West Side, OG, Passionate, Brave, Fearless, Inspiring, Talented, Human are some of the words that come to mind when Tupac is mentioned. He had hits like California Love, Dear Mama, Keep Ya Head Up, I Get Around, Holla If Ya’ Hear Me, and All Eyez On Me, three of which were grammy nominated songs.
In all, Tupac has been nominated for 19 different awards and has won 5 awards in total. In 2011 Forbes reported that Tupac’s music was selling like he was still alive, and with over 75 million records sold, we can certainly understand why. Tupac Shakur was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, on Friday, April 7th, 2017, and a very heartfelt speech was given by Street Motivation Alumni, Snoop Dogg. It’s been over 20 years since his death, but throughout the years Tupac has remained just as relevant as the most popular rappers out today.
Tupac was the Black Lives Matter movement before it became a popular catch phrase. Artists who are just coming up in the rap game, many times over give props to Tupac for inspiring them to be a rapper. Ask any rapper today (Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Eminem, Snoop Dogg) who they were influenced by, and 9 times out of 10 they will say Tupac. His legacy remains strong today because his messages about race relations, ghetto life, poverty, young black men, and women still resonate as if he were able to predict the future. In fact, some people still believe he’s alive, somewhere in New Zealand, Mexico, or Cuba laying low and living it. At any rate, we are very proud that dead or alive, his legacy shall live on. From all of us here at Street Motivation Magazine, it is our honor to extend well-deserved congratulations to Tupac Shakur, for being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
